Increasingly popular as an avenue of internet marketing is a concept known as dropshipping. Dropshipping is, in a nutshell, a type of retailing where you pass on the customer’s information to a wholesaler who ships the products. It is the wholesaler that stores the inventory of the product and also ships it, thus leaving you as essentially a middleman who profits out of the difference in the price you sell a product for compared to the price charged by the wholesaler.

This type of retailing has spread like wildfire across the internet, as its benefits are pretty clear cut. The most obvious being that you do not need to store the goods that you are selling, so there is no need for a large warehouse and all the costs that go along with it just to store products. Staff costs and such are also minimal (or none at all!) seeing as it really only takes a single person to reliably run such a retailing endeavor.

Sometimes however, dropshipping opportunities can seem too good to be true, and very often are. The perennial problem faced by anyone embarking into this area is reliability of their wholesalers, as the customers will deal directly with you rather than the wholesalers. Increasingly there are cases where wholesalers vanish into thin air, leaving goods undelivered, which is why one of the most important things when getting started is to find a wholesaler that is trustworthy and reliable.

Still, with a reliable wholesaler (or wholesalers) behind you, it is a great way to start into internet marketing. There are a lot of solid wholesalers that are reputable out there, and they have gradually warmed up to the idea of dropshipping as it benefits them too in the long run by having an extra salesman do their work for them.
