One of the main things that really gets to people about resell rights is: They don’t understand it. Actually, at dbookworm.com we had done a small feature on Private Label Rights, so be sure to check that one out too. In fact, one of the biggest problems when it comes to resell rights is that people tend to confuse Private Label Rights (PLR) with Resell Rights, and then get confused again by assuming that the Resell Rights for one product will be exactly the same for another.
Honestly, both PLRs and Resell Rights are very different things. It would benefit you to think of PLRs as free license to do anything, whereas Resell Rights would be an agreement that tells you what you can or cannot do.
Here’s an example, the resell rights you obtain for Product A may let you sell it, but not distribute it for free. Whereas the resell rights you obtain for Product B may let you distribute it for free, but not sell it.
Why do these two products have different resell rights? Well, it could be for a number of reasons, but let’s just say that perhaps Product B is meant as freeware, and it can be distributed freely but the creators don’t want anyone profiting from it. On the other hand, the creators of Product A want to profit from their product, and want others to be able to profit too, so they don’t want someone giving their product away freely and devaluing it.
Armed with this knowledge, we can tackle the difference between PLRs and Resell Rights. PLRs may have their own stipulations too; however with PLRs you can change any part of the product itself. For example, if you have an eBook called, ‘Ten Things To Do Tomorrow’ that is written by Johnny Five, and you had the PLR to that eBook, then you could change it to be ‘Ten Great and Awesome Things to Do Tomorrow’ and claim that it was written by you, yourself.
Of course there are other intricacies and involvements however that should be enough of a basic overview. You know, this eBook should be able to answer most any other questions regarding Resell Rights that you might have, and, unsurprisingly, it is called 7 Infamous Resell Rights Questions Answered.
